Jordan's Largest Islamist Group Faces Splits Jordan's largest Islamic group faces splits between doves and hawks despite a bilateral settlement that allowed for the election of new leader and executive body after weeks of stalemate, the Beirut-based influential daily AN NAHAR reported on July 11. The Islamic Action Front (IAF), which is the political arm and offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan, elected two weeks earlier Hamza Mansour, a dove, as its secretary general, while doves and hawks equally shared the eight seats of the group's Executive Office. The elections ended a crisis that marred IAF's relations with its mother group, the Muslim Brotherhood, which tried earlier to impose a secretary-general on the IAF.
